Android SDK

Let the plugin install and look after the Android SDK of every workstation, instead of each developer setting one up.

Turn on Manage Android SDK for a repository or a group: the plugin installs an Android SDK of its own and points the IDE at it, in Android Studio and in IntelliJ IDEA with the Android plugin. It always installs the tools — platform-tools, emulator and cmdline-tools — and keeps them at their latest revision. Platforms, build-tools and the NDK are left to the build, which downloads what it declares. Turning the setting off leaves the IDE on that SDK.

Under System images, declare the images the team runs its emulators on. Pick them in Add a system image, which lists the images Google publishes by API level, and take one off with the cross at the end of its line. Each image is named as sdkmanager --list names it — for example system-images;android-36;google_apis;x86_64 — and while Google's list cannot be read, you type that path instead. An image that Google does not publish in the stable channel of its repository, the only one the plugin installs from, is flagged on its line and refused when you save, and so is a line that is not such a path. Nothing is installed until the developer accepts the Android SDK license, from the notification the plugin shows; the images then install in the background. The plugin does not create the virtual devices.

Nothing is ever removed from that SDK: each repository adds its own images, so a workstation holds the images of every repository it opened, and an image taken off the list stays where it is installed. These settings are the same on every branch of a repository.
